This is one of the most important places for Buddhists all over the globe. It is believed that Gautam Buddha after attaining Enlightenment delivered his first sermons from this place. Emperor Ashoka, who was an adherent follower of Buddhist principles, built a number of Stupas and the famous Ashoka Chakra to give due respect to the place. Though, much of Sarnath’s architectural beauty has been rampaged during an invasion by the Mughals, there still remains some of beautiful evidences of Mauryan architecture.

Sarnath is 72 kms or 45 miles from Mirzapur. Buses and cabs are available from Mirzapur that will directly take you to Sarnath. You can also hop on a train to Varanasi and then take a cab to Sarnath.

Raebareli

Though Raebareli is yet to receive its due attention as a touristy spot, is has already earned a name for its strong association with the famous Gandhi family of India. Apart from its political connection, Raebareli also has a lot to offer in terms of architectural and natural beauty.

Raebareli is the brainchild of British, who constructed the city in 1858. A touch of British architecture is still visible in every lanes of the city. Raebareli is also known for Samaspur Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary is spread across a sprawling 780 hectares of land and is a haven for over 250 species of birds like kingfisher, vulture, whistling teel, vision, spot bill, common teel. It also has a lake that is home to several fishes. The sanctuary serves an as ideal picnic spot during the winters.

Another attraction of Raebareli is the Indira Gandhi Memorial Botanical Garden situated near River Sai. The garden is decorated with various colourful flowers and medicinal plants and also acts as a great research area.

Raebareliis 210 km from Mirzpur and will take about 3 hours to reach from Mirzapur.

Kushinagar

Some of the attractions of Kushinagar are the Maha Parinirvana temple with a 6 m long reclining Buddha, Nirvana Stupa, Ramabhar Stupa, Meditation Park, Kushinagar Museum, Wat Thai Temple, Chinese temple, Sun Temple, Kuber Asthan, Devraha Asthan and Kurukulla Asthan. All these structures and places have its own distinctiveness and is a great place to visit if you are looking for enlivening your spiritual side. The best time to visit Kushinagar is from November to March.
